Lib Ed Requirement Petition Process for Transfer Courses

Occasionally, students find a course they transferred into the University of Minnesota from another educational institution that they think may be eligible to complete First-Year Writing, a Writing Intensive course, or Liberal Education Core or Theme requirements. The links below will help you petition admissions to consider your transfer courses for such requirements.

  • Check your APAS Report to review requirements that you have not yet completed and identify transfer courses that may complete one of those requirements.

  • Read the Transfer Course Petition Instructions to review the petition process.

  • Print out a copy of the Transfer Course Petition Form and complete it according to the instructions.

  • Finally, deliver your petition as well as any supplementary materials to the Transfer Specialist at the Office of Admissions (240 Williamson Hall).
